When a doctor recommends a CT scan, MRI, or DSA, many patients ask: "Which one is the best?"
In reality, all three have different and complementary functions that help doctors make a more accurate diagnosis.
- CT Scan: Usually the first choice in emergency situations—such as acute stroke, head injuries, or brain hemorrhages—because the process is fast and effective.
- MRI: Provides a more detailed image of brain tissue and nerves, making it highly useful for detecting abnormalities that might not yet be visible on a CT scan.
- DSA (Digital Subtraction Angiography): The most detailed examination of blood vessels. In addition to locating blockages, narrowing, or aneurysms, DSA can also be used simultaneously as a therapeutic treatment.
The choice of examination will be tailored to the patient's condition, symptoms, and the purpose of the evaluation. Therefore, not all patients require all three tests.
RS Bethesda Yogyakarta provides comprehensive neurology and diagnostic support services to aid in fast and accurate diagnosis and treatment, including comprehensive DSA (Digital Subtraction Angiography) services.
