Transmission Hantavirus is transmitted by rodents (rats and mice) through their urine, feces, and saliva. Infection can occur when a person breathes in contaminated particles or comes into direct contact with rodent waste.

Symptoms to Watch For:

  • Fever

  • Coughing and shortness of breath

  • In certain conditions, it can lead to bleeding disorders or even kidney failure.

Prevention: The Best Defense

Currently, there is no specific vaccine or therapy for Hantavirus. Therefore, prevention is the most effective measure:

  • Maintain environmental cleanliness to discourage nesting.

  • Seal entry points to prevent rodents from entering the home.

  • Store food properly in airtight containers.

  • Avoid contact with rodent droppings or waste.

Stay calm and do not panic. Education and vigilance are the first steps in safeguarding our collective health.
